Project aims to help Send community get active

A new programme aims to break down barriers preventing people with special educational needs and disabilities (Send) taking part in sports and activities.
Bedford Borough Council has launched the Beyond Limits programme to offer "inclusive and accessible activities within supportive environments".
The initiative will begin with two new clubs, which include one for multi-activities, like sports, and also an online chair dance club that people can join in from home.
The council said it was committed to creating a "more inclusive and active Bedford Borough for everyone".
Both new clubs aim to reach individuals and families across the borough and "tackle inactivity and isolation", the council said.
Sarah Gallagher, the council's portfolio holder for customer experience, leisure and culture, said: “Beyond Limits is a fantastic initiative that will provide a platform for individuals within the Send community to explore the joy of movement and reap the numerous benefits of physical activity.
" I encourage everyone to get involved and experience the positive impact that Beyond Limits can have."
Two new clubs offering a "supportive and adaptable environment" have been launched to kick-off the programme.
The multi-activity club offers a variety of sports and activities for people aged over 18, which will be tailored to the needs and abilities of participants.
Sessions will run on Monday's at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium.
An online chair dance club will be run via Zoom on Monday afternoons, which aims to get participants moving and "having a laugh", the council said.
Participants pay £3 per session.
