Jerome Griffin says he was inspired to became a social media food critic when working in his delivery job

TikTok star Scouse Ghetto Gourmet has said he is "living the dream" as a food critic in his hometown of Liverpool.

Also known by his real name, Jerome Griffin, of Toxteth, the former food delivery driver has reviewed hundreds of restaurants.

He makes food videos on TikTok as he he reviews food from eateries across the city.

Mr Griffin told BBC Radio Merseyside that the best food came from small independent restaurants as "they try harder to win over the crowd".

The former drama student said his family "were not the richest" and as a child they could not really afford to eat out much.

He said: "I had never experienced eating out, being wined and dined and stuff like that.

"So when I got fully immersed into that world, it felt like a dream to be honest.

"It was like I was living the dream."

Mr Griffin said he was inspired to become a food critic thanks to his food delivery job.

He said he came across some fantastic eateries during his deliveries and thought "people need to know about this".

The food critic added: "They were small independent businesses.

"The best food was coming from the little guy".

He said he had has now reviewed about 300 restaurants in every postcode of Liverpool, sharing his thoughts with nearly 160,000 followers on TikTok.
