A motorist has died after a single-vehicle collision early on Monday.

Gloucestershire Police said officers were called out to reports of a car hitting a wall on the A417 London Road in Ampney Crucis, near Cirencester, just after 06:00 BST.

A 50-year-old man from the Cotswolds was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been contacted, the force added.

Officers said closures that were in place on Witpit Lane, at The Crown at Ampney, and Cherry Tree crossroads have now been lifted.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.
