A Grade II-listed former mill in Grimsby town centre could host 32 waterside apartments.

Haven Mill began life as an early 19th Century corn mill before becoming home to the Tap ‘n’ Spile bar and the former Grinders nightclub, known for its multi-coloured flashing dance floor.

Church Lane Humberston Ltd has submitted a planning application to convert the first to fourth floors into 32 apartments.

North East Lincolnshire Council will decide whether to approve the plans at a later date.

The planning application, external says the upper floors of the mill have sat idle and empty since 2005, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

It states the proposal would help revitalise “a previously deprived and derelict area" in association with the Horizon Youth Zone, which is being built nearby at West Haven Maltings.

Eight of the apartments would have two bedrooms and 24 would be one-bed flats.
