Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man who was found injured in a nature reserve.

Leicestershire Police said the man, in his 40s, was found by members of the public on Wednesday evening at Aylestone Meadows, near Aylestone Road in Leicester.

He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead, the force added.

Police are appealing for information that could help officers establish the circumstances of his death.

Det Insp Louise Rooke said: "Please think back to if you were in the area on Wednesday and any information you might have - or anything you may have seen or heard since."
