Two closures of a major route between the Manx capital and the north of the island are set to take place to allow road racing equipment to be removed.

The works on the A18 Mountain Road have been scheduled by the infrastructure department for the removal of Manx Grand Prix course signage and other items.

The road from Barrule Park, in Ramsey, and Tholt-y-Will Road will close on Monday and Tuesday from 09:30 to 20:00 BST, and again for several hours in the evening.

The section of the course between Tholt-y-Will Road to Creg ny Baa will then be closed at the same times on 9 and 10 September for the second phase of the works.

The department said emergency access would be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works.

Two sets of dates have also been scheduled for later in the month if poor weather means the programme could not be completed, it added.

The motorcycle event, which ran from 18 to 26 August, was beset by delays due to stormy weather conditions.
