Work will start later this month on a £170,000 road improvement scheme.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the installation of new drainage channels and kerbs to improve surface water drainage, new manhole and drain covers, and resurfacing work would be carried out on Woodland Drive in Anlaby.

The work is due to start on Monday 18 August and last up to three weeks.

Woodland Drive will be closed to through traffic for three days from 18 to 20 August between 08:00 BST and 17:00 and from 8 to 9 September, when more work will take place, officials said.

The council said during this work, where possible, the road would remain open to traffic, but delays could be expected.

The final phase of the work will involve laying a new road surface and replacing the road markings.

Councillor Paul West, the council's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "The improvements to this road are essential and the local community will benefit when it's complete.

"We will try to keep any disruption to a minimum and we want to thank residents, businesses and drivers for their patience while we carry out this scheme," he added.

The work is being carried out as part of the council's planned highway capital programme.
