A police officer has denied three counts of making indecent images of children.

Patrick Higgins, 30, who is a Gwent Police officer, is accused of accessing indecent images and films of children under 18 - including some classified as being the most graphic, known as Category A.

At Newport Crown Court, Mr Higgins, of Ystalyfera, Neath Port Talbot, pleaded guilty to three counts of unauthorised access to police data between June 2023 and August 2024.

Mr Higgins will go on trial on the indecent images charges on 19 October 2026 and was given bail until then, on the condition that he remains at home between the hours of 22:00 and 07:00.
