Work to create the latest section of a "much loved" walking and cycling route is about to begin.
A new part of the popular Greenway will be built on the Ise Lodge in Kettering in the coming weeks, North Northamptonshire Council said.
It will run from Deeble Road to Grantown Close, connecting into the already surfaced route through to Barton Road.
The trail is part of the North Northamptonshire Greenway Project, external, a network of rural routes, which are mostly free from traffic and made for walkers, wheelers and cyclists.
The Ise Valley Greenway will link communities from Corby to Wellingborough through Kettering, the council said.
George Candler, the authority's deputy chief executive and executive director of place and economy said: "The Greenway is much loved and used by residents from across North Northamptonshire, as well as visitors from further afield."
He said it would "really help with connecting the various sections of the Greenway into a green thread of off-road routes that weave their way across beautiful North Northamptonshire."
A butterfly bank, planted with wildflower seeds, will also be created from a large mound of earth excavated during the construction.
It was being paid for through the government's Homes England funding for the Hanwood Park development, to help facilitate or alleviate congestion and encourage active travel in and around the area.
It hopes to connect further routes in 2026, the council added.
