Two brothers who "recklessly" opened fire at a group of men fighting in a daylight street brawl have been jailed for life with a minimum term of 16 years.
Jack Gibney, 25, and Kevin Gibney, 34, shot into the crowd on Delamore Street in Walton, Liverpool on 21 February 2023, but no one was injured.
The pair, both from the city, were both convicted after a trial of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Det Insp Chris Clark of Merseyside Police said the Gibneys "did not have a single thought for the safety of other people".
Police were called to the street at about 13:55 GMT after reports of a group of people fighting in the area.
Both the men were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.
Det Insp Clark said: "Sadly we have seen the tragic consequences of a gun being recklessly fired in a public place.
"Thankfully on this occasion nobody was injured but this type of behaviour simply will not be tolerated.
He said it was "right that they [The Gibneys] are behind bars for a considerable period of time as a result of their actions.
