A man has been disqualified from driving after hitting other cars and injuring a member of the public at a car meet.

Milosz Sobiechowski, 22, of Selley Walk, Bishopsworth, Bristol, was sentenced for dangerous driving at Swindon Crown Court on Friday 18 October.

The red BMW he was driving at the event on 30 September 2023 on the Hawksworth Industrial Estate in Swindon hit a number of parked cars and left one person with minor injuries.

Wiltshire Police roads policing officer PC Beales described Sobiechowski’s actions as "incredibly dangerous".

The car was also found to have a number of dangerous defects and modifications leading to it being banned from the road, police said.

As well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months, Sobiechowski was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next year and pay a surcharge of £114.

'Incredibly dangerous'

PC Beales added: “It is incidents like these that led us to set up Operation Staysail, the force response to car meets, around two years ago, as they endanger the public and can cause a significant amount of disruption to local residents," he said.

“As we have said previously, we recognise that genuine car enthusiasts meet lawfully and do so in a manner that doesn’t cause distress to local residents.

“We will continue to target those who break the law, however, and ensure they are robustly dealt with and put before the courts."
