Terraced house to become care home for one child

Plans to turn a terraced house in a South Yorkshire village into a specialist children's care home have been approved.
The house, on Elizabeth Street in Goldthorpe, will support one child at a time with emotional and behavioural support needs who is aged between eight and 18, according to the applicant.
Welcare Global Limited said in its application to Barnsley Council that it hoped to replicate a typical family environment, with young people taken to and from school every day.
It also stated that young people moving to the home would undergo "stringent impact risk assessments" to make sure they would integrate within the community.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, Welcare Global's proposal outlined that carers would work on a shift system.
Two carers would be based at the home during the day, while one would stay overnight on a 48-hour rota, it said.
The facility would not serve as a temporary housing solution, but a "nurturing" environment for children, Welcare Global's application outlined.
