A final push for funding for a new skatepark for a Surrey town has been launched.

The park is planned to replace one at Cobham, which has come to the end of its useful life.

The new park is being crowdfunded, with Sport England promising to match fund every pound donated up to a total of £5,000.

The deadline for donations is 26 November.

Designs have already been drawn up by the company Maverick Skateparks.

Lili Love, from Cobham Skatepark Project, said: “I grew up in Cobham and learnt to skate at the current park and my son is a keen skateboarder who also learnt to skate there. We were very sad to see the demise of the current park and the community that evolved there.

“Desperation for the new park is palpable, people are just so excited at the prospect of having somewhere local to take their children.”

Martin Elbourne, from Cobham Village Partnership Community Interest Company, said: "This new facility will provide a very practical way of addressing and supporting many of the issues our younger generation continue to suffer post Covid, including mental and physical health and social wellbeing."
