Lone ewe rescued from ledge of beauty spot
- Published
Mountain rescuers helped recover a lone sheep spotted close to the edge of a Derbyshire beauty spot.
The Edale Mountain Rescue team was called to assist the ewe, which was stuck above Stanage Plantation in the Peak District at about 16:21 BST on Thursday.
After a failed attempt to lasso the sheep, the team went for a "trusted technique" by lowering themselves down to the woolly animal and placing it in a sheep rescue sack.
The uninjured sheep was then checked over by its farmer and released back to graze.
After saving the sheep stuck on the ledge, the team was informed of a young sheep further down the crag with a broken limb.
Members of the team went to catch the sheep in need and carried it down in the rescue sack.
A spokesperson for the team thanked those involved in the rescues, including climbers who spotted the sheep on the edge of Stanage Plantation.
The spokesperson added: "Our best wishes to all of our casualties today."
