A gun has been found by police hidden in bushes after they were tipped off by members of the public.

The weapon, which officers confirmed was a live firearm, was discovered in Bell Green, Coventry, on Friday.

The gun was thought to have been left there by its previous "owners" and was described as a "lethal weapon", by a spokesperson for West Midlands Police.

They urged anyone who saw anyone behaving suspiciously in the area on 7 or 8 March to contact the force.
