People have been invited to have a "chat with a cop" as part of a new police initiative.

Officers will be in Teignmouth for the drop-in sessions over the next few months, where people can share concerns and get crime prevention advice.

The first session will take place at the Den Promenade on Saturday.

Insp Sean Roper said: "We want to connect with the visitors and of course the residents who live here all year round. They know they can come to us if they need us."

He said summer was a "busy" time for local police as visitors "flock to this beautiful part of the world".

The monthly, drop-in events are free to attend and will take place on Saturdays from August until December.

The other sessions are scheduled for 20 September, 18 October, 15 November and 13 December.
