The family of a 19 year-old man who died after being shot in Birmingham have described him as "a source of joy, laughter, and inspiration".

Riyan Ali died in hospital on Monday after being shot in Washwood Heath on Saturday.

Two men, aged 46 and 22, and a 40-year-old woman who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail, while another man who was arrested has been released without charge.

In a tribute to Mr Ali, his family said his "kindness, curiosity, and unwavering spirit" touched hearts.

"He had a unique ability to uplift those around him, always ready with a smile or a listening ear."

The family added that Mr Ali embraced life with "enthusiasm and grace", and had "boundless potential".

"Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of love, compassion and courage will endure in the hearts of his family."

"We will remember him not only for his achievements, but for the warmth he brought into our lives.

They described his death as a profound loss, and said they would hold on to the "beautiful memories" and "unbreakable bond" they had with him.
