A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died days after being shot in Birmingham.

The 19-year-old victim was found with serious injuries in Alderson Road, Washwood Heath, on Saturday night.

He was taken to hospital but died on Monday, West Midlands Police said. A 25-year-old man was was later arrested and remains in custody.

Two men, aged 46 and 22, and a woman, aged 40, who were arrested after a car was stopped on Alum Rock Road on Sunday, have since been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The victim has not yet been formally identified and Det Insp James Mahon has appealed for information about "the fast moving investigation".

“Our thoughts are with the young man’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time," he said.

“This is a fast moving investigation, but I’m still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything to come forward.

“We believe this was an isolated incident and extra patrols are being carried out in the area."
