A woman who was under police watch in hospital after the death of a nine-year-old girl last month has now also died.

The 49-year-old had been in a life-threatening condition after an incident at a property in the Oxfordshire village of Islip on 21 October.

At the time, Thames Valley Police said it had launched a homicide investigation and that the girl's cause of death had not been ascertained.

The force said it was not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

It added that its investigation into the girl's death was ongoing and that it would "continue to support her family at this extremely difficult time".

Assaults had also been reported at the house on Middle Street on a boy and a girl, who were treated in hospital but have since been discharged.

Speaking last month, constituency MP Calum Miller said the community had experienced "enormous shock and grief" at news of the girl's death.
