A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman who was found dead at a home in Manchester.

The 51-year-old was found at a property Queens Road, Harpurhey, at about 04:00 BST on Monday, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 55-year-old man was arrested "following initial inquiries at the scene", the force added.

Det Insp Emma Hulston said: "We understand this investigation will raise concerns in the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public."

The detective said residents could expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
