Free classes are being offered at leisure centres in Swindon to mark National Fitness Day.

GLL, which runs the Better Leisure Centres in the town, is offering free access to gyms, pools and some classes at five locations on Wednesday, 18 September.

It comes as GLL is urging gym-goers and swimmers to also check for early signs of cancer.

NHS messaging is also appearing on mirrors in the changing rooms of leisure centres in Bath and North East Somerset.

Free access to leisure centre gyms, swimming and fitness classes including Tai Chi, Pilates, Group Cycle and Dance Fitness is available at:

• Croft Sports Centre

• Delta Tennis Centre

• Dorcan Better Health and Recreation Centre

• Haydon Centre and Gym

• Link Centre

Barnaby Rich, Swindon Partnership Manager for GLL, said: “It has never been more important for the public to embrace activity and fitness as an aid to mental and physical health.”

GLL is issuing joint messages with the NHS to remind people using its gyms and swimming pools to contact their GP if they notice something different about their bodies.
