Two men have died following a road crash in County Armagh on Friday.

The collision, involving an Audi and a Mercedes, happened outside the village of Killylea.

Both men died at the scene. Four others, including a baby, were taken to hospital. One woman sustained serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

The deaths bring to 67 the number of people who have died on Northern Ireland's road so far this year.

Sarah Duffy, Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council, described what happened as "heartbreaking".

"Christmas is supposed to be such a joyous, happy time for families, and this incident has just rocked our entire community," she said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who are facing this pain."

The Killylea Road, which was closed for a period of time, has now fully reopened.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the incident at about 12:48 GMT.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
