The arrest of a man on suspicion of burglary has led police to discover a large stash of chocolate they suspected to have been stolen.

Merseyside Police said the haul of Dairy Milk bars was found when the 45-year-old was searched after he matched the description of someone who tried to gain entry to a staff room at McDonalds on Blundell Street in Liverpool city centre at about 07:00 BST.

The man, of no fixed abode, was also found to have a pair of suspected stolen air pods, and was taken to a police station for questioning.

A spokesman for the force said "our enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to identify businesses who have recently had a large quantity of chocolate stolen".
