A ferry service between Devon and Cornwall is not running on Thursday due to a slipway needing "urgent repairs".

Plymouth City Council said surveyors found cracks on the slipway at Mount Edgcumbe in Cornwall.

It said a further survey was carried out following recent bad weather and surveyors found storms had also caused "further deterioration beneath the slipway."

Officials said they were working with the service's operator to identify an "alternative landing location".

"We are hopeful that this will be in place in the coming days," the council added.

Ferry passengers have been told to check the website of operater Plymouth Boat Trips for more information.
