The council's headquarters in Esher could be redeveloped

A decision on redeveloping a council headquarters to provide new homes is being delayed.

Elmbridge Borough Council has proposed its Esher Civic Centre site could hold up to 400 homes, with council offices either moving to a new location or a new building on the redeveloped site.

Options were due to be discussed by the council's cabinet in November, but will now be brought to senior councillors in 2025, the local authority said.

The building is also home to Surrey Police, Elmbridge Citizens Advice and two private companies who rent space.

Another key stakeholder identified by the council is Esher Bowls Club, which is accessed via the civic centre car park, and one of the organisations set to be updated in regular meetings on the plans.

The council said more time was needed "to thoroughly develop and cost the options to support the project business case".
