Motorists have been told to ignore a test of the electronic red flag system on Friday morning as part of preparations for the Manx Grand Prix.

The test is set to start at 07:00 BST and will be visible around the 37.75-mile (60km) Mountain Course.

The system, which alerts riders and marshals when a race has been stopped, was introduced at during TT 2022.

Clerk of the course Gary Thompson said the system needed to be retested ahead of this year's event "as a precaution".

The large square signs around the circuit will display either black or red with various letters appearing during the test.

Mr Thompson said: "I am acutely aware of any disruption that may be faced by the public and again thank everyone for their understanding whilst we continue preparations."

The 2024 Manx Grand Prix races are scheduled to run from 18 to 26 August.
