People living in a low-rise block of flats were forced to leave after a fire

Firefighters were called to the building on Greystoke Road in Slough after a fire broke out in one of the flats on Thursday shortly before 15:15 BST.

Crews deployed from across Berkshire, as well as from London and Buckinghamshire, spent six hours tacking the fire.

South Central Ambulance Service said two people were assessed by paramedics and discharged at the scene. An investigation to determine the cause is under way.

A crew from Slough Fire Station returned to the block earlier to check for hotspots.

Those who had to leave their homes were supported by Slough Borough Council officers.

The council said all residents affected had been able to make their own arrangements for the night.

The authority added that a team from the council's building control service had also assisted the fire service to carry out a structural assessment of the block.
