An event has taken place to mark the 35th anniversary of Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation, the football club's official charity.

The family fun day at the Amex Stadium in Falmer on Wednesday was attended by hundreds of local residents, community groups and club officials.

The free community event involved activities including football drills, penalty shoot outs and face painting.

A spokesperson for the charity said the event was about "giving back" to the community.

It is estimated that Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation has helped more than 600,000 children and young people and their families since it was founded in 1990.

It delivers educational and outreach programmes aimed at "improving wellbeing and supporting learning".

Matt Dorn, the charity's chief executive, said: "It's a really important year for us and we want to continue the trend of supporting as many children in Sussex as we can.

"Everything that we do is about trying to deliver as many different unique sessions and trying to support as many different people as we can.

"Days like this are really important to allow us to amplify and talk about all the different opportunities that we have."

The team which looks after the kit for Brighton and Hove Albion's players completed a 35-mile (56km) walk in June, raising thousands of pounds for the club's charity.
