A charity is encouraging islanders to take part in an annual sea challenge.

Jersey Hospice Care and National Trust for Jersey said its 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge would begin again in July.

People are being encouraged to swim, paddleboard, kayak or surf at a different bay each day.

Cheri Strudwick, from Jersey Hospice Care, said "despite the increase in popularity" the number of participants had began to "dwindle in recent years".

"The funds raised from events like this are vital to keep our service running for all islanders with a life-limiting condition," she said.

"We’re urging islanders to register to support us and have some fun along the way."

Younger swimmers can aim for 12 bays in 30 days as part of the event, which began in 2016.

Donna Le Marrec, marketing and events manager for National Trust for Jersey, said the challenge was "all about getting out, having fun and exploring our beautiful coastline".

"There's no better way to appreciate it then from the sea," she said.

The opening swim will take place at Greve de Lecq on 30 June at 11:30 BST.
