A new state-of-the-art urology clinic has opened to enhance a hospital's current services.

The ribbon to Alstone Urology Clinic at Cheltenham General Hospital was cut in an opening ceremony on Thursday.

Located in the hospital's College Road Wing, the new clinic features 10 modern clinic rooms.

It was established to "centralise and expand" services previously offered at the hospital's Oakley Ward.

As well as having 10 clinic rooms, the new facility features administrative offices, and will be the base for nursing teams, and clinical nurse specialists.

There is also a redesigned waiting room and advanced diagnostic capabilities.

A training academy and seminar room are planned to support education and training in the field of urology.

Jeremy Nettleton, consultant surgeon and urology clinical lead, said: "We are proud to establish the Alstone Urology Clinic as a centre of excellence, providing comprehensive care and advancing urological services for our community."

Gloucestershire Hospitals said it plans to develop a "dedicated urology assessment unit" in the future.
