Three teenagers have been arrested after a police car was rammed.
Nottinghamshire Police officers in Mansfield attempted to box in a vehicle, which had potential links to criminal activity, at a red light at about 02:20 GMT on Thursday.
The driver responded by ramming the police car before speeding off, the force said.
After a short pursuit, officers made three arrests and found a bag, which contained a machete.
Officers said the person behind the wheel ignored multiple requests to pull over after the police vehicle was rammed.
A bag was then thrown from the car in Rock Hill, before it came to a stop shortly afterwards in Ransom Wood Business Park.
Police said the occupants of the car then "tried to make a run for it", but were tracked down by a police dog and his handler.
Officers retraced their steps and found a bag that was thrown from the vehicle, which was found to contain a machete, according to police.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possessing a knife in a public place, and failing to stop.
Two men, both 18, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in a public place.
'Simply not OK'
Det Insp James Oakton described the driving on show as "completely unacceptable".
He said: "Thankfully, nobody was hurt on this occasion, although that was down to a mixture of good luck and the superior driving skills of our officers in attendance.
"Again, this is simply not OK, and anyone thinking of carrying a knife in a public setting should be warned that this will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police."
A spokesperson confirmed inquiries are still ongoing, despite the three arrests.
