A murder investigation has been launched after a man died at a pub in West Sussex.
Emergency services were called to The Dolphin and Anchor in West Street, Chichester, at 23:00 BST on Thursday.
A 57-year-old man, from South Yorkshire, sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A man, aged 30, from Birmingham, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
A 42-year-old man from County Durham has also been arrested on suspicion of affray, while a third man suspected of affray has been identified but remains outstanding, with efforts to locate him ongoing, police added.
Det Ch Insp Suzanne Joseph said a section of the Chichester city centre has been cordoned off and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as inquiries continue.
“This incident led to the tragic death of a 57-year-old man, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time,” she said.
“It happened in a busy pub in the city centre, and we’re urging anyone with information to come forward as we seek to establish the exact circumstances.”
The next of kin of the deceased has been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.
Anyone with information or relevant footage is urged to contact police.
