A former police officer who showed colleagues private images of a woman without her consent has been found to have committed gross misconduct.

PC Alexander Fennell disclosed the pictures multiple times while both on and off-duty, a panel heard.

Senior officers were made aware of his actions and Mr Fennell resigned from Essex Police after the force suspended him.

The panel determined the officer would have been dismissed from the service had he not already left.

Deputy Chief Constable Andy Prophet said that Mr Fennell's behaviour had "fallen below the standards we expect".

He added: "Former PC Fennell’s behaviour is something that we cannot tolerate.

"Our professional standards department have worked to thoroughly investigate the allegations and prove the gross misconduct."

Mr Prophet said staff were encouraged to call out misogynistic behaviour.
