Pedal-powered guides installed on promenade

Interactive pedal-powered devices which recount "interesting facts" about Morecambe and the town's history have been installed along the promenade.
The audio guides come to life when a foot pedal is pumped a few times, with each one telling a story about a different aspect of the town's cultural and natural heritage.
The guides are voiced by Burnley actor Julia Haworth, best known for her role as Claire Peacock in Coronation Street, as well as her appearance in the second series of Morecambe-based crime drama The Bay.
Subjects include the Time and Tide Bell, the Eric Morecambe statue, the Mountainscape Panorama, the RNLI station at Green Street, and the Birds of the Bay at the Yacht Club.
Ruth Wilkinson, chair of Morecambe Business Improvement District, said each of the audio guides is designed "to celebrate and illuminate the rich cultural and natural heritage of Morecambe".
"It is yet another reason for visitors to spend time with us here," she said.
"A reason too, for local families to enjoy a walk along the prom, and perhaps find out some interesting facts about Morecambe."
She added: "Our thanks go to United Utilities and our partners who have helped us in bringing this exciting new attraction to Morecambe.”
Iain Pilling, area engagement lead for Lancashire at United Utilities, said: “It’s a fantastic addition to the promenade and we hope visitors enjoy it."
