Forty-eight people died on Lincolnshire’s roads in 2023, officials have said.

The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership (LRSP) said the same number of fatalities were recorded in 2022.

A total of 40 deaths were recorded in 2021.

The organisation will present its annual report to Lincolnshire County Council on 19 March.

In addition to the deaths, 378 serious injuries were reported in 2023 compared with 391 in 2022 and 413 in 2021.

Overall, the number of people killed or seriously injured has increased by 5.78% since 2013.

The LRSP said “much progress has been made” in reducing road traffic collisions, but acknowledged there is “still much to do.”

Over the past 12 months, £2m has been spent on road safety schemes, including improvements to the A18 and A1084, the implementation of lower speed limits and installation of average speed cameras.
