Officers were called to Biggleswade High Street early on Sunday, where they discovered a construction vehicle had smashed into Nationwide.
The ATM was later found in a field in Hertfordshire, alongside a flatbed truck that had been burnt out.
Bedfordshire Police has called for witnesses to come forward.
Det Insp Tanya Shotbolt said: "We are appealing to members of the public for any information that could help our investigation into this burglary.
"We are continuing to carry out inquiries, but would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us."
