A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an Aberfeldy dog walker earlier this year.

David Campbell, 75, entered no plea at Dundee Sheriff Court over the death of Brian Low on 17 February.

Mr Campbell is charged with both murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

The body of Mr Low was discovered in the Pitillie area on the outskirts of the Perthshire town, three days before he would have turned 66.

His death was initially thought to be "medical-related", but a later examination later revealed that Mr Low, a retired groundsman at the the Edradynate Estate, had been shot.

His death certificate, seen by BBC Scotland News, confirmed he died of a shotgun wound to the neck and chest.

Mr Campbell was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

His next court appearance will be within eight days.
