A 49-year-old man has been found guilty of sexual offences against a child in Jersey.
At Jersey’s Royal Court, a jury found Richard Louis Romeril guilty, reaching unanimous verdicts on 12 counts, including attempted rape and indecent assault.
The court heard how Romeril committed the offences over a 10-year period.
They were also told a “large volume" of indecent images were found on a device in his home.
'Harrowing case'
Thanking the jury, Bailiff Sir Timothy Le Cocq, said details of the seven-day trial had “not been easy to listen to”.
Det Con Sian Dupre, of the States of Jersey Police, said it was a "harrowing case of significant sexual abuse".
She said: “This case highlights the very challenging circumstances faced by many victims who have been subjected to sexual abuse.
"Although this was an historic event, the evidence was compelling, and the victim was given reassurance that a thorough investigation would be conducted."
Romeril broke bail conditions by going missing in September, and people were asked to check sheds and outbuildings after his car was found at Noirmont.
Romeril is due to be sentenced on Friday.
