A section of a road in the south of the island was closed for tree felling on Tuesday, following damage left by Storm Éowyn.

The closure allowed the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to fell several roadside trees which are considered at risk of falling onto the carriageway.

The storm saw winds of 81mph (130km/h) recorded at the airport on 24 January - the highest speeds recorded for 20 years.

The road has since reopened.
