People living near a quarry have been told to stay inside because of a planned demolition of a building.
Cornwall Council said residents near Lean Quarry should keep windows and doors shut over the weekend while a building at the waste facility at Horningtops, near Liskeard, is demolished.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the building was being pulled down so a fire at the site, which has been burning for more than a week, can be tackled safely.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Residents in areas affected by the smoke should stay indoors and keep their doors and windows closed."
The fire service said drivers passing on the A38 should keep windows shut, warning there could be "an increase in smoke in the area".
"Motorists who have to travel through the smoke should keep windows closed, turn off air conditioning and keep their air vents closed," it said.
The blaze broke out inside a large storage shed containing an estimated 60 to 80 tonnes of household waste stacked up to 66ft (20m) high.
The structure was then declared unsafe by engineers, preventing crews from entering.
