North Bridge in Hull is to be closed overnight for almost two weeks for routine inspections.

Hull City Council said the inspections were to ensure the bridge's "continued safety and reliability".

The bridge, which crosses the River Hull, will be closed overnight between midnight and 06:00 BST every day from Sunday 7 April until Friday 19 April.

A short diversion will be in place via Drypool Bridge, the authority said.

Andy Burton, assistant director of Streetscene at Hull City Council, said: “While we recognise the inconvenience caused by these inspections, in order to mitigate we have limited them to overnight closures.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in advance for their patience and support.”
