A man has died following a stabbing, prompting a murder inquiry.

Two men who had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the incident in Leigh, Greater Manchester, have been re-arrested following the 27-year-old’s death.

They are now being held on suspicion of murder.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the incident in Siddow Common, which happen at about 18:50 GMT on Tuesday.

Det Insp Matthew Hamer said: "With what we know so far, we do not believe that there is a threat to the wider community.

"However, we understand that an incident of this nature will concern residents."
