Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was left seriously injured in a collision on New Year's Day.

The 80-year-old man had been travelling along Porthdafarch Road on Anglesey when the incident happened.

North Wales Police were alerted to the scene shortly after 08:00 GMT.

The man had to be airlifted to hospital in Stoke for treatment.

The cyclist had been heading in the direction of Trearddur Bay and the collision took place between South Stack and Porthdafarch Beach.

Officers are continuing to investigate and are asking motorists for any information which may help their inquiries.

Anyone who had been travelling along that stretch of road between 07:30 GMT and 08:10 GMT on 1 January and may have seen the incident - or captured it on their dashcam - are asked to contact the force as soon as possible.
