Excavation work on village's main road begins

Work on a section of High Street in Port St Mary is scheduled until 12 December
- Published
People have been warned of possible delays on the main road running through Port St Mary during two weeks of excavation work.
There will be diversions on part of the village's High Street.
Motorists will have to go via Park Road and Fistard Road from 06:00 GMT until 18:00 on 12 December.
The works also see parking on the carriageway suspended for the entire period.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) previously said the closure was necessary for the excavation of trenches to assess ground conditions and subsurface structures.
The work is required ahead of the road's reconstruction early next year.
Before she was appointed Infrastructure Minister, local MHK Michelle Haywood protested about its poor condition.
That reconstruction work is likely to last six months.
