A vicar has described a choir as "remarkable" after they sang at St Paul's Cathedral in London.

The choir from St Mary-le-Tower in Ipswich performed at the historic cathedral on Monday.

It was part of the church's tenth anniversary of girls singing in the choir and they were joined by new Ipswich MP Jack Abbott.

The Reverend Tom Mumford, vicar of St Mary-le-Tower, said he was "hugely proud" of the whole team and especially the girls who led the performance.

"To come into such an enormous and historic space and then just knock it out of the park... well it's remarkable, but of course they're remarkable young women," he said.

"Ipswich really has got talent, and talent the whole town should be proud of."

Mr Abbott met the choir on his first day in Westminster and thanked them for representing the town.

"We were also especially pleased to be met by our new MP who very kindly stepped out of an incredibly busy first Monday in Westminster to congratulate and encourage us," added Mr Mumford.

"[It was] a really kind thing to do, and meant a lot, particularly to the girls."
