Search for volunteers to shape 'much-loved' park

Volunteers will help maintain and contribute to future developments at the park

The search is on for a volunteer group to shape the future of a town's "much-loved" park.
North Lincolnshire Council is holding a public meeting at 18:00 GMT on Wednesday at The Pods in Scunthorpe, for residents to learn more about forming a Friends of Central Park group.
The volunteers would help maintain and contribute to future developments at the park, which is a "cherished" green space, popular with dog walkers, runners, families and children.
Councillor David Rose, cabinet member for environment and strategy, said: "Central Park is a popular place for people of all ages, so we're keen to create a group that reflects its diverse users."

The group could be formalised with elected officers, a constitution, and a bank account to support fundraising and larger projects
The council said Central Park had "proudly" held Green Flag status for many years, "recognising it as a well-managed park that met internationally recognised standards".
A Friends of group is typically made up of volunteers who care about their local park and want to play a role in its future.
The authority said: "Members can take part in activities such as litter picking and bulb planting, as well as contribute to future developments, funding bids, and act as a key consultation group for the council."
If there is enough interest, the group would be formalised with elected officers, a constitution, and a bank account to support fundraising and larger projects.
Rose added: "The Friends of Central Park group will help protect, enhance and celebrate this much-loved space."
