A multimillion-pound hub for health and wellbeing classes at a Devon university is set to open in September.

Plymouth Marjon University said the facility, based in a renovated building on its campus, would serve as a "state-of-the-art" home for its courses and community health clinics.

The university said the hub had been funded through a £5.8m grant from the Office for Students and included facilities such as a simulation hospital ward and virtual reality spaces.

Vice-chancellor Prof Claire Taylor said the hub represented the university's commitment to provide students with the most advanced resources and technology available.

Prof Taylor added: "By integrating learning and practice, the hub will enhance the educational experience for our students and ensure they are well-equipped to meet the growing needs of healthcare across the region."

Community health clinics at the hub would include speech and language therapy, osteopathy, physiotherapy, and psychotherapy and counselling, the university said.

The clinics are run by healthcare workers with treatments delivered by students under supervision.
