A rapist who climbed through the window of his victim's flat as she slept on her sofa has been jailed.
Antanas Jancevskis was at a barbecue in Leicester which was also attended by the woman on 17 April 2022.
After being taken home by two friends the woman went to sleep on her sofa and woke that night to find the 35-year-old lying with her, where he subsequently raped her, police said.
On Thursday, Jancevskis, of Castle Street in Boston, Lincolnshire, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of rape at Leicester Crown Court.
'Deeply disturbing'
When Jancevskis went to the toilet, his victim ran from her flat and alerted a member of the public, who rang Leicestershire Police.
The force said officers arrested him in the early hours of 18 April.
During his sentencing, a judge said Jancevskis would be placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Det Con James Alcock, the investigating officer, said: "This is a deeply disturbing case, particularly because he entered her home through a window.
"The victim has shown great bravery as she's had to relive her ordeal through a trial.
"I hope the local community can take some reassurance from the fact he's been convicted of his crime and is now serving a period of imprisonment."
