A new hub has opened in Telford's Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) which will provide information about how the site is set to change.

The Transforming PRH Hub has been opened by the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust (SaTH) Charity, the League of Friends, and Lingen Davies charities.

Patients, staff and visitors can ask questions there about the hospital transformation programme and other investment in the site.

The programme will see the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital become the main emergency centre and take over consultant-led women and children's services, while the PRH takes on elective surgery.

The trust said Lingen Davis would regularly use the hub to gather support for its £5m sunflower appeal, which hopes to create a chemotherapy centre at the hospital, to be in operation by 2029.

The site also has plans to introduce a county-wide respiratory centre.

"This welcoming space, at the entrance of PRH, will help us to continue to build relationships and trust with our patients, visitors and staff who use and work in our hospital every day," said Jo Williams, the trust's chief executive.

"With the support of local people, and our charities, we are planning a multi-million pound investment in PRH, to provide state of the art respiratory and cancer services.

"This will help us to provide a better experience and help reduce travel and waiting times for some of our most vulnerable patients."
