A father from West Sussex has paddle boarded the English Channel in memory of his daughter who died in 2017 with a form of bone cancer.

Jamie BartlettBundy set off from Dungeness in Kent at 06:00 BST on Wednesday with his brother John Bartlett, aiming to reach Boulogne-sur-Mer in France.

The challenge has raised more than £12,500 for the Children and Young People's Cancer Association in memory of his daughter Pearl.

Before setting off Mr BartlettBundy, from Hassocks, told BBC Radio Sussex his "nerves were running".

He said: "It's one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, which is a bit nerve-racking to say the least."

The pair completed the 26.5-mile journey by 15:00.

According to the challenge's fundraising page, Pearl was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in 2016, aged nine.

"At the moment we are funding three research projects into Ewing sarcoma," Mr BartlettBundy said.

"I can't do the research but I can do stupid things to raise attention and hopefully raise some money."
